Carry the Glory

I finished a new painting last night. This one is different for me. I used watercolor and pen & a gold paint pen to accent shadows & highlights. It's 11"X15" on Strathmore paper. I have it listed at my imagekind site for those of you that might want to buy prints and postcards with it.

Watercolor adventures

Gosh, it's been a long time since I've updated this blog. I have been busy as always with my scrapbook designing. I have also been starting some new projects and started really getting an interest in watercolors. I now have a gallery set up so you can buy prints online. Check it out. I joined wetcanvas and I got so inspired by all the art out there. I first browsed the acrylic forum, but soon meandered down to the colored pencil and watercolor forums and was just amazed at the display of talent over there! So intrigued was I that I started a watercolor with basically just 3 colors.

Well, that really got my curiosity up. I soon visited the local art supply store and got a few more colors to play around with and some watercolor pads. Here is my next project:

I was a bit disappointed in how that one turned out, but I figure, there is so much to learn! It is not at all like acrylics. This was part of an exercise on triads, meaning 3 primary colors and then you had to make a color wheel and paint using those 3 colors. Here is the result:

The WIP I am working on now is another painting of Smokey. This was an adaptation of a photo my son Ryan took of him. It was a very dark photo (night time) and I changed it so it was daylight.
